Refab Space is a new extension of Access Space Network's award winning Access Space project.
Conceived in 2009, the project has made incremenatal progress through the long-term support of dedicated volunteers and Access Space participants. At the beginning of 2012 two pieces of crucial funding to support the project have been confirmed, and the project is going ahead at full steam.
Refab Space is developing a shared workspace including a suite of high-tech tools to investigate physical computing, digital fabrication, electronics, robotics and internet-of-things technologies, with a particular approach which stresses low cost, accessibility to the community, and sustainability through the re-use and repurposing of existing devices.
The project is enthusiastic to enagage with developing an improved UK ICT curriculum using physical computing - developing practical workshops and activities which feed into lesson plans and teaching sessions.
